Carbon dioxide extinguishers are the extinguisher of choice for fires that may occur as a result of generators or computers overheating. Furthermore, they are also useful for Class B fires which may involve flammable liquids, such as petrol, diesel, and paint. All fire extinguishers installed by Francis Fire are also fully commissioned, wall or stand-mounted, and finished with photoluminescent ID signage.

CO2 fire extinguishers are extremely suitable for business premises where there is lots of electrical equipment such as offices, schools, and care homes. Our experienced engineers install standard (Red bodied), antique, polished, and steel CO2 extinguishers. Francis Fire engineers are comprehensively qualified, being trained and constantly updated through the UK’s leading trade association the British Fire Consortium.

This type of extinguisher(s) is usually paired up with water extinguishers in internal environments which is suitable for extinguishing Class A fires. As part of our comprehensive installation process, our fire safety engineers will perform a series of checks to verify your newly installed extinguishers are fit for immediate use.

Fire extinguishers play a vital part in your overall fire safety plan that helps to keep your premises, workers, and visitors safe. If you run a business that has electrical equipment, you are legally obligated under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to have CO2 extinguishers fully installed, commissioned, and annually serviced. Extinguishers are key in preventing catastrophic damage to property and even loss of life.

It’s likely that your CO2 fire extinguisher(s) will last for up to ten years from manufacturing if they are serviced annually and kept in top working condition. They are one of the most long-lasting types of fire extinguishers, as most other types of fire extinguishers need extended servicing/service exchanging after just five years.

Francis Fire offer a wide choice of CO2 extinguishers to select from including polished, antique, stainless, and standard (red bodied). Although the standard is fully compliant and most popular, our alternatives (polished, antique, and stainless) don’t fully comply with *British Standards BS5306-3 & 8-3 & 8 not being Kitemarked but are purchase by businesses looking to maintain specific interiors. For example, polished extinguishers serve as a stunning addition to elegant interiors.

*Note: For fire extinguishers to be (distributed) in the United Kingdom they must be, as a minimum, be CE markedThe CE mark tells the user that the product complies with applicable standards. In this instance, the standard is EN3. In order for a fire extinguisher to gain a CE mark is must comply with parts 1-10 to EN3, excluding part 7 paragraph 16.1 which has reference to the colour. The accreditation bodies view this as not part of the safety, operation and testing of the unit and is purely cosmetic the CE mark can be attached. Once the CE mark is attached, the unit becomes legal for sale within the UK and Europe.
