Case Study – Office Fire Extinguisher Installation

Another one of our latest jobs was a multiuse-office fire extinguisher installation in Knutsford, Cheshire East. As you can see from the pictures, we were requested to supply, install, and fully commission extinguishers in key communal areas, on each floor. These extinguishers consist of 6-Litre Water Plus 21A Fire Rated & 2KG CO2 (Carbon Dioxide).

All installations carried out at the offices in Knutsford were finished with Photoluminescent Fire Extinguisher ID Signs. The said customer did not have a Fire Risk Assessment for their new premise, consisting of ground floor and first floor levels. Although we don’t cover this service, we made a referral to an experienced and competent risk assessor who attended the said site within 7-days, conducting a full assessment and serving a comprehensive methodical fire risk assessment.

This customer was provided with a 3-Year Fire Logbook, without charge by Francis Fire, and shown how to maintain this document going forward, ensuring excellent fire safety compliance. The said customer was added to the Francis Fire annual servicing system in readiness for the next year. Fire extinguishers are legal requirements, under the Fire Risk Assessment, for all sizes of offices and business throughout the UK. For this particular customer, the size of the office fell into the ”small office” category based on the square metreage per floor (below 200m2), and they therefore only required two class A fire extinguishers, plus special risk (electrical CO2), per floor that were strategically positioned for fire safety.

Water extinguishers and CO2 extinguishers were installed in the multiuse offices on this occasion to deal with various fire risks in the workplace. Offices just like this one consists of many different types of fire risks including electrical I.e., kettles, computers, PC’s, Servers, Printers, and much more.

Fire extinguishers are a legal requirement for all non-domestic properties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
