We received a website enquiry from a new local commercial customer who found our detailed and informative website via a local Google search: ‘Quality Fire Extinguisher Companies Cheshire’, a telephone call was made within the hour to the prospective customer, answering their initial questions, followed by arranging an appointment to attend site to assess and quote the following day.

Upon arrival, our engineer assessed the small external commercial scrap yard; they discussed the legal requirement (The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005) for a suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment, which wasn’t in place at the time of attending, a referral was then made to our recommended ‘Fire Risk Assessor’, who arranged to attend the same week.

After discussing the portable fire extinguisher assessment, with the ‘Responsible Person’, it was recommended and agreed that two mobile fire extinguisher trolleys consisting of 2 x 6KG ABC Dry Powder BSI Kitemarked fire extinguishers were to be supplied, commissioned, installed with photoluminescent ID signs, PVC protective covers, and certified, providing suitable and sufficient first-aid fire-fighting cover for the identified fire risks (Class A, B, & C), including running fuel fire risk (Diesel & Petrol) present throughout the external yard area.

Our engineer attended the following day, putting in place the above recommendations, reassuring the ‘Responsible Person’ that they were covered for their individual fire risks promptly.

Upon completion, our engineer provided a ‘without-charge’ 3-year fire safety logbook & basic fire safety training booklet, enabling the responsible person to fully understand their legal fire safety obligations, and underpin their ongoing fire safety processes and procedures.

There were some old extinguishers, which were initially safety checked then used for on-site ‘practical fire extinguisher training’ with the staff present; it was fed back that this training was extremely informative, providing them with the necessary skills to know their on-site fire risks, and how to use their extinguishers in the event of an undeveloped fire occurring; the old extinguishers were then removed from site, under our Waste Transfer Licence, being environmentally disposed of, via our approved contractor.
