Francis Fire was urgently requested to attend an Asian Supermarket in Crewe, by the Responsible Person (RP) under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Fire Safety Act 2022. The RP had recently been visited by Cheshire East Council and Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service representatives, who had identified various elements of fire safety legislation that needed to be address as soon as possible, to get compliant.
The said representatives assessed the overall fire risks for the retail unit, confirming the requirement for Portable Handheld Fire Extinguishers to be in place. Upon arrival, our skilled BAFE Accredited Engineer measured the unit, considering all elements under British Standards BS5306-3 & 8 including the comments by the said representatives.
A-Class fire risks were identified throughout the unit – the most common type of fire and consists of general combustibles such as wood, paper, and fabric Etc. Electrical fire risks were also identified throughout the unit – electrical equipment such as televisions, computers, fridges and extension leads Etc. were in place.
Our fixed fee quotation was accepted by the RP, whilst in-attendance, our engineer then proceeded to install Kitemarked EN3/UKCA portable fire extinguisher(s) fire points throughout, consisting of 6-Litre Water Plus (21A) and 2KG CO2 Carbon Dioxide (34B), finished with photoluminescent landscape ID signs, positioned on modular floor stands, including CO2 retaining Velcro straps and extinguisher missing discs.
Full certification to British Standards BS5306-3 & 8 was met, our engineer issued a digital fire extinguisher & attendance certificate which includes asset tracking bar-coding, confirming all the above to the RP, prior to leaving site.

A without-charge Fire Safety Logbook was provided to the RP, along with instruction on how to maintain regularly, including monthly fire extinguisher(s) visual self-checks.
